Palm
has just announced the Palm Foleo, what they claim is the "perfect companion" for your smartphone. Currently only compatable with Treo devices, basically what it does is connect to your Treo via bluetooth and download your email to the device. It doesn't have a mobile antenna built into it, rather, it uses your PDA as a modem to connect to the internet. By the way, you can use your Treo to connect your regular laptop to the internet as well. Its not a full blown laptop, its basically a UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) that runs a custom version of Linux, and is basically a full blown keyboard and screen for your Palm. It also has WiFi capabilities. Who would use such a thing? I would guess someone that doesn't need to carry around a full laptop, but wants to have easy acccess to their email and attachments that are synced through their PDA. And at only $500, its quite a bit cheaper then a regular laptop or any competing UMPC.
