NetStumbler: Your WiFi Companion
This is the most useful peice of software I know of for detecting and locating wireless LAN's, otherwise known as War Driving. You can find out what wireless networks are in your area in much more detail than with Windows and when used with a GPS device, you can physically locate the actual router.
Other things you can do with this software include Wireless LAN Auditing, Wireless LAN Covereage Verification, Site Survay, and Antenna Positioning. Its free and downloadable here.
